Jono Stewart is a composer, improviser, and multi-instrumentalist currently based in Richmond, Virginia. He is best recognized for his work as a bass guitarist and as a leader of groups with unorthodox concepts that focus on ensemble composition. His projects have explored ideas including improviser's orchestras, sound games, and the incorporation of extemporary multimedia elements in dynamic group installations.

He is also an active member of Blake Hawley's Gas Station Mentality and co-leads a modern jazz group called Stephanie Osmond with NYC trombonist Eric Quinn. He was a touring guitarist in #powerhorse, the late NYC rock band experience. Stewart is currently actively working with Richmond based rock bands Cardinal and Big Fundamental. He is grateful to have recieved a musical education from New York University and the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
